Thanks for outlining your approach. Could you explain the difference between your Substack and what you offer on Seeking Alpha? I read you there as well. It seems like your high level is similar to what you offer on Seeking Alpha but I am not really sure. I like your idea of teaching people to fish. When I homeschooled my son for a year, we called ourselves The Fisher School.
You are welcome, and thanks for asking. A quick history will help. We ran ETF Yourself on Substack, then Seeking Alpha tapped us to run an investing group for them a year ago. That's Sungarden Investors Club. It is open to all, but primarily used by existing Seeking Alpha subscribers, since it integrates with the articles I write on that closed platform, and with their proprietary data.
We maintained the Substack during that time, as a free service featuring my weekly letter, now known as the Weekly ROAR. The success of that publication and the application of it to ETF portfolios over the past 4 years prompted us to re-focus on our Substack audience.
So our current offerings are:
(Substack) $150 a year or $15 a month for ROAR Report and some additional ETF/strategy research. We are also finalizing a learning library for subscribers, and will have a quarterly live session.
(Substack) $600 a year for the above, plus weekly live sessions with me, where I expand on the written work, answer questions live, and through our chat room at Substack.
(Seeking Alpha) $1099 a year for what's in the $600 Substack service, plus additional live sessions.
Bottom-line: the $600 Substack service and Seeking Alpha service are very similar. The main differences are some additional ad hoc live events, and they are the first to see my new and in-progress research and IP development efforts.
I hope that helps. Let us know if you have additional questions. Thanks!
